The Muppets – A Green and Red Christmas

Did you know the Muppets had a Christmas album? Me either until about a month ago. Naturally, it’s completely fabulous.

There aren’t a lot of classic songs on this album, so don’t anticipate doing a lot of singing along (one of my biggest criteria for a Christmas album, as you may know), but it’s got all of your favorite Muppet characters. The Electric Mayhem Band does a considerable amount of the playing, but there are also appearances from Gonzo, Rizzo, Fozzie, and even the Swedish Chef. Obviously, “Santa Baby” as sung by Miss Piggy is just entirely appropriate.

The closing track on the album is Kermit singing “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” It’s a perfect finale and is very “Rainbow Connection.” Definitely a fun addition to my (and your!) Christmas music library.
